Service Projects

Christmas in July

Each year our club gets together to celebrate the Holidays in the Summertime. During this event, we present monetary gifts to many local agencies. This year we are excited to present gifts to the following agencies. Mary Cariola Center, Daystar Kids, HUGS Foundation, Lima Food Pantry, Honeoye Falls FISH Transportation, Uganda Water Project, and Golisano Children’s Hospital: Pediatric Behavior Health & Wellness program.

After the presentation of gifts was complete, we had a white elephant gift exchange of our own, to continue the celebration. It was a fun night had by all.

Lima Food Pantry - Book Project

When the Kiwanis Club of Honeoye Falls - Lima, Mendon invited the Lima Food Pantry Coordinator in to speak to the club, we found that there might be a need for them to hand out books to the children of the families which they provide food to. With the club’s connection to the Mendon Library, we were able to have books donated from the Library and give them to the Lima Food Pantry so that they could distribute them to the children during their monthly distribution.

Mendon Public Library Donation

Kiwanis Club of Honeoye Falls-Mendon delivered a check to the Mendon Public Library to support children and teens. The money they presented will bolster children and teen services at the library, allowing even more reading and engagement among area youth.

Bike for Patton!

Justin Hilimire, who shared that his 12-year-old son Patton has four disabilities and could no longer ride his bike, and was heartbroken over the prospect that he may never be able to do so again. the members of Kiwanis Club of Honeoye Falls-Mendon took this challenge on as a project to provide a new bike specially designed for Patton. Patton Hilimire and his father Justin were overjoyed when the bicycle specifically designed for Patton’s disabilities was delivered just after Christmas.

The Kiwanis Club of Honeoye Falls-Mendon would like to thank the other Clubs in the Finger Lakes Division: Farmington-Victor, Canandaigua, Geneva, Webster, Seneca Falls-Waterloo, and Penfield-Perinton for their help on this project. It is such a gift to be able to join together to help a child in a time of need and make amazing things happen.

Kade Project: Daystar Kids

What looks like a trunk full after an ordinary day of shopping, is actually full of donations from a community and local businesses. These donations will help a child and their family have some much needed items this holiday season. This is how Kiwanis can come together and make a difference in the lives of children and their families, one child at a time.

“Daystar is New York State’s only pediatric day-respite center, helping families successfully transition their infant or young child with special healthcare needs from the hospital to home and support their healthy development all the way until they enroll in kindergarten.”
